Proposition 8

The State of California has Proposition 8 on the ballot. This measure simply says that the "Definition of Marriage shall be between a Man and a Woman." We believe that this is an important measure to pass in order to protect traditional families for us today, and for our children.

To show our support, we had a lawn sign put-up.

It was slightly obviously that a lot of the kids (with their parents) did not stop by our place for candy because of the sign. We have a lot of candy left-over if someone wants to come by and get some. The next morning, we noticed that somebody came by and trashed the sign.

Fortunately, I had 2 other signs in my trunk for just this occasion. :)

Our neighborhood had a lot of trashed Yes on 102 signs too (same measure).

Good for you for standing up for what's right. We had members of our ward with at least 12 signs stolen. Others had theirs streded. It was great when they left it there and posted a new one with a sign that pointed to the other and said, "Is this your tolerance? Trespassing, destruction of private property and infringing on my 1st ammendment right to free speech".

Our sign was in the front window since it kept blowing down. Nobody could steal it (although Michael was very nervous someone would throw a brick through the front window) but we did get some hate mail, anonymous cookies (which went straight into the trash), and an anonymous bouquet of flowers on the door. At least not everybody was a hater.

We had our Prop102 sign stolen, then we put another one up and the next weekend it had been sprayed all over with silly string and knocked down. So dumb. But, living in the conservative area that we do, we still got plenty of trick or treaters!

Way to go on showing your support for the proposition. I sent out an email about it (not trying to offend anyone) to some people in the Sunset ward and got some negative responses. I didn't know there was so much opposition even with people in the church!
